UCLA Office of Emergency Management

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) assists the campus community in preparing for and managing the response to disasters and other emergencies. The office develops emergency procedures; coordinates the university’s response to incidents; maintains Bruins Safe Online and BruinALERT; and offers customized training presentations and workshops for students, faculty and staff.

Grounded in a community policing philosophy, the UCLA Police Department (UCPD) utilizes campus partnerships as the most effective approach for ensuring a safe campus. Contact UCPD 24 hours a day, seven days a week to report a crime or other incident on campus, or to receive immediate help.

See BruinALERTs, campus status updates, get access to the Bruin Safe App, and more.

Meet one-on-one with AVC Steve Lurie. Ask about campus safety, raise a concern, or share an idea. Book a time or walk in.

UCLA Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management

Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM), formerly the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), identifies concerning behaviors in and around the UCLA community, assesses the risk and intervenes early to prevent harm. The team receives reports of concerning behavior; evaluates each concern with a multidisciplinary group of campus partners; and coordinates a response that mitigates potential threats and connects individuals with support and resources.
